Oncology Appointment

Hello!  Again I’m happy to report I haven’t had any updates because there is nothing to update!!!!  We hit our 2 week ampuversary and we started weening Bogart off the meds and he comes back a little more each day.  We finally gave him a bath, he needed one so badly.  He almost seemed embarrassed 🙂  We dog sat again for Couy, its amazing to see them happy to be together but realize that Bogart has to take it easy.

Bogart really doesnt make the best mouse pad.

Today we had his Oncology checkup appointment.  We were supposed to get the results from the biopsy.  We have been dreading the call every time the phone rings….and today we were going to face the news.  But there was no news.  Results are not in yet.  Its a weird feeling.  Dr Fox said its not normal for the decalcification to take this long, maybe that’s a good thing?? Maybe its not cancer!  Tony and I are handling this differently.  I’m telling myself it is Osteosarcoma (because statistics say it is) and I will be surprised if its anything else, where Tony is starting off with its the 1% chance of something else.  Dr Fox is going to try to get the results by Wednesday this week.  Otherwise the visit was great.  Bogart practically ran into the hospital – apparently he doesn’t remember what happened to him last time.  He wanted to play with every dog he came in contact with.  He is walking, almost running so good and those slick floors didn’t stop him.  We were down a couple more pounds, 12 total (remember a whole leg had to be at least 6).  The bottom of Bogart’s incision has opened  so they had the surgeons restitch the bottom, which will still put him on light duty for another week or so.  We talked a long time with Mike, he is Dr Fox nurse.  We enjoy talking with him, he has a tough job.  I can tell he respects our plans of treatment.  He started his career later in life and it really has Tony thinking about his career.  With all this going on with Bogart and Tony not working he has really been thinking about doing something with animals – maybe a vet tech?  Mike said the money is not great, but they don’t do it for the money.  Its something to think about.  I also read about Massage for dogs, since I recently finished my schooling for massage therapy I think I need to check out more for dogs.  Maybe Tony and I could help all kinds of dogs!

On our way to his appt, Bogart loves Nico

Since Bogart tends to come alive when we take him out and about we are planning on making our first ‘fun’ outing tomorrow night.  Farmers market here we come.  Bogart always got lots of attention at the market but NOW, I bet he steals the show 🙂
